The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball team heads home with a loss in their Thursday night showdown against Great American Conference foe Arkansas Tech University. The Blossoms played three sets in the match, falling to the Golden Suns, 3-0.

UAM closes out the day with a 10-16 season record and a 4-9 GAC record on the 2022 season after the conclusion of Thursday.

The opening set began with the home team taking the first point of the match, but UAM finding two points right after to take back the lead. The Golden Suns then found themselves back-to-back 4-0 runs, with a Blossom point in the middle, to take a 10-4 advantage over Arkansas-Monticello. The Blossoms fought themselves back into the game, bringing it all the way back to a two point difference. Even though both teams were balanced for the majority of the set, the Golden Suns would eventually take the win in set one, 25-19.

Thanks to a handful of ATU offensive errors, set number two began with four straight points going to the Blossoms. As the offense began to find their stride, the Golden Suns would bring the game back to an 8-8 game. The score would proceed to tie nine different times before Tech pulled ahead to a 21-18 advantage. UAM would find four more points, but Arkansas Tech would find their 25th to win the set, 25-22.

Set number three turned the tables, with the Blossoms taking a 10-4 lead early. Tech would find quite a few multi-point series to build their way back into the game, climbing their way all the way back to a 21-20, UAM advantage. The Golden Suns scored five straight points to close out the third set and the match. Tech would take a 3-0 series win.

Alyssa Smith led the Blossoms in kills with 11.

Mia Smalls contributed 27 assists in the match.

Defensively, the Blossoms were also led by Smalls, who had eight digs. Alyssa Smith and Stasha Adams followed right behind with seven of their own each.
