The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team came out with a loss on Thursday as they stopped in Weatherford, Oklahoma to take on Great American Conference foe Southwestern Oklahoma State University. This was the first of two games in the team’s Oklahoma trip. The Blossoms played three sets in the match, falling to the Bulldogs, 3-0.

UAM closes out the day with a 9-10 season record and a 3-3 GAC record on the 2022 season after the conclusion of Thursday.

The opening set began with SWOSU jumping ahead 2-0 on the Blossoms. The first half was dominated by the Bulldogs as UAM was only able to string together two points at a time. With the score coming to 19-17, and SWOSU on top, the Bulldogs would pull away. They outscored the Blossoms 7-2 in the tail end of the set to win 25-19.

The Blossoms took a lead in set two, holding onto that lead for the first quarter of the set, before eventually falling behind 6-5. The Bulldog offense took ahold of the reigns for the remainder of the set as SWOSU would take the win 25-15.

An early three points from Southwestern Oklahoma State gave the home turn a quick advantage, but UAM was quick to turn it around and keep the set close. The score would eventually be tied at 9-9. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs would find another wave of offense to take set three, 25-14, and the match 3-0.
