Officials from Mobile Energy Solutions and Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline announced this week that they will conduct line purging and scheduled pipeline maintenance from Monday, Nov. 14 to Wednesday, Nov. 16 in Arkansas City.
Officials with both companies say that the maintenance and line purging will occur between the Orscheln Farm & Home and Walmart parking lots on North Summit Street in Arkansas City. During this time, the community can expect to see condensation around the trucks, bright lights, and hear a loud noise when the line is being purged.
During the line purging and maintenance, the site will have safety personnel onsite from both energy companies and safe zone areas will be marked off for the duration of operations. The public is being asked to avoid the safe zone area and spread awareness on what is occurring and help limit non-emergency calls to 911.
Arkansas City Fire Department, Arkansas City Police Department, Cowley County Emergency Management, and Cowley County Emergency Communications will monitor the ongoing situation and remain in communication with Southern Star and MES.
