SIMMONS FIRST NATIONAL BANK: #WomensHistoryMonth | Tina Groves, Martie North & Sharmane Hines

Whm

Simmons First National Bank issued the following announcement on Mar. 29.

For the final week of WHM, we're highlighting the accomplishments of our all-star Risk team, headed by EVP and Chief Risk Officer Tina Groves. Since arriving on the scene in 1991, Tina has grown the Risk unit into the successful team it is today. In addition to overseeing crucial efforts to guard against financial crimes, Tina spearheads enterprise and third-party risk management, ultimately ensuring that Simmons complies with the ever-changing regulatory landscape. "We’re really focused on embedding compliance and risk management into all decision-making at the bank."

Her team of Martie North and Sharmane Hines also lead efforts to ensure that Simmons’ products and services are accessible to everyone in our communities. Martie shared about Affordable Advantage Checking, a certified Bank On product designed to reduce overdraft risks and help people keep spending on track. “Simmons is one of the first banks in Arkansas to provide a nationally certified account and since then we’ve successfully recruited other banks to do the same. This offering really helps people move their money into the financial mainstream.” Martie is committee chair for the American Bankers Association’s Community Engagement and Reinvestment Committee, and is serving her second term on the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis’ Community Development Advisory Council.

Serving underbanked communities is also top-of-mind for Fair Banking Director Sharmane Hines. Sharmane calls Fair Banking “the heartbeat of Simmons,” describing our bank’s outreach to minorities and vulnerable groups. “We have to be very intentional in making sure that all our business lines and channels are reaching minority populations." Sharmane's passion for advocacy and community leadership was recently recognized by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau when they invited her to serve as a member of their Consumer Advisory Board.
