Holy Rosary Church – Stuttgart issued the following announcement on Feb. 24.
Ash Wednesday is a week away! Begin thinking now about how you may need to turn back to God and how you can deepen your friendship with Jesus in the season of Lent. Pope Francis has asked all Christians to especially pray and fast for peace on March 2, Ash Wednesday, in light of the potential conflict in eastern Europe.
Ash Wednesday is not a holy day of obligation, but attending Mass is a good way of beginning the penitential season well. Our Mass times will be: 8:30 a.m. English (with Holy Rosary school); 12 noon English; 6:30 p.m. Spanish. Remember that all Catholics 14 years of older should abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent, and those who are 18 to 60 years of age, and in good health, should fast (eating one meal only, with two smaller meals if needed) on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. May God grant us a blessed Lent!
