Arkansas City issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.
Following another day of hot temperatures and high humidity, widely scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop tonight. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding also are possible as storms are likely to continue through the overnight hours. Make sure to have ways to receive weather information and stay weather aware!
