Update regarding Delta variant / Actualización sobre la variante Delta (traducción en español se pondrá en la tarde de hoy día)
In view of Bishop Taylor's letter this past Monday regarding the Delta variant and the subsidiarity to which he invites each parish to work out solutions for itself, I wish to add a word for our parish:
When the distancing and masking restrictions ended in May, I invited each person to do as they wished regarding mask-wearing, and I established a small, roped-off section of the Church where people could continue to distance at 6 feet. After several weeks with hardly any use, I took the ropes off the relevant pews.
In view of Delta, even though I am not of the mind to reinstitute mandatory mask-wearing and distancing throughout the Church building, I understand that being in a socially-distanced, mask-mandatory area may be the crux for some people regarding attending Holy Mass, and I wish to accommodate that. I am willing to reestablish this roped-off section...but I need to hear a response from our parishioners to see if this is indeed something that a few people are wanting.
As such, if you wish to return to Holy Mass, but wish to be in an area that is mask-mandatory and 6 foot distanced, please reply to this post or send a message to ourladyofthelakear(at)gmail.com so that we may have a good idea of the number of folks in this situation.
Let us also remember that by a Catholic understanding of bioethics regarding formal and material cooperation, the vaccine is *not* morally wrong to receive and is even praiseworthy, as Pope Francis has mentioned.
