Pine Bluff Interested Citizens for Voter Registration, Inc. (PBICVR), Arkansas Community Organization (ACO), Delta Sigma Lambda Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and the United Way of Southeast Arkansas makeup up the “Pine Bluff Wealth Building Coalition.” PBWBC and Mayor Shirley Washington will participate in a press conference Tuesday, February 7th, to announce details and to encourage taxpayers to take advantage of the free income tax preparation service on “Super Saturday,” February 11th. The IRS Refund Economic Effect (Multiplier 10) indicates over the past three years, PBWBC has captured refunds amounting to more than fifty-four ($54) million dollars of spending power was made available to lower-wealth families in Pine Bluff and Jefferson.

The press conference will take place in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center located 211 west 3rd avenue at 11 am.

A detainee at W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center died after a medical emergency on April 27. Staff provided immediate aid before transporting him for further treatment. An investigation into his death is underway.
