Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Jan. 25.

Congratulations to Simmons Bank CEO George Makris Jr., who was honored by Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley M. Washington with a proclamation declaring January 19th as “George Makris Jr. Day.” The proclamation was given during the Affordable Housing Initiative for ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, yet Employed) Families news conference in which Simmons contributed $2 million.
