FOIA Request to University of Arkansas at Monticello Regarding Chinese National Students on June 3, 2025.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, Lowe Delta News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The request seeks detailed information concerning Chinese National students currently enrolled at the university.
The specific requests include:
1. Documents or lists identifying all current students who are Chinese Nationals and their respective departments. If privacy concerns prevent disclosure, we have asked for the total number of such students and a breakdown by department.
2. Information on scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.
3. A list of recipients of any scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council, unless this information is already covered under the previous request.
4. Policies or procedures detailing how the university monitors students, including Chinese Nationals, to safeguard its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.
We believe that access to this information is crucial for holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. As media professionals dedicated to informing the public, we have requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request.
This initiative is supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization aiding media companies in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
