The Arkansas–Pine Bluff Golden Lions split a doubleheader against Prairie View on April 11, scoring a season-high 22 runs in the first game before falling short in the second game with a narrow loss. The team now holds a record of 16–21 as they prepare for Sunday’s series finale.

The opening game saw the Golden Lions deliver one of their strongest offensive performances, tallying 22 runs on 18 hits and drawing ten walks. Weston Gingerich led the offense by going 4-for-6 with a home run, while Nick Hockemeyer added three hits and four runs batted in. Aaron Grant broke a tie with a solo home run in the seventh inning, and Lazaro Alvarado hit two home runs, including a grand slam that contributed to his four RBI total. Zach Wieder also had two hits and two RBI.

UAPB secured victory in Game 1 after erupting for twelve runs in the eighth inning, capitalizing on six walks and five wild pitches from Prairie View’s pitching staff. Kenney Fabian was credited with the win after pitching over five innings.

In Game 2, Arkansas–Pine Bluff could not complete the sweep despite rallying from behind to take a late lead. Matt Dworsky and Zach Wieder each hit solo home runs to spark momentum, while Ian Smith contributed an RBI single and stolen base during their comeback effort. Blake Coleman recorded three hits but Joe King took the loss as Prairie View regained control late in the contest.

The final game of this road series is scheduled for Sunday morning at Prairie View as UAPB looks to finish strong.
