The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions secured a 63-53 win over Florida A&M on Saturday at H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The victory was marked by a strong second-half performance that saw the Lady Lions outscore their opponents 24-14 in the third quarter.
The first half featured tough defense from both teams, with neither side able to establish a clear lead. UAPB maintained composure and responded effectively to each attempt by Florida A&M to pull ahead, keeping the score close heading into halftime.
After the break, UAPB increased its intensity and began to take control of the game. The team pushed the pace, attacked inside, and found success from long range. Their defensive efforts translated into offensive opportunities as they built momentum during their most productive stretch of play.
In the fourth quarter, UAPB continued to limit Florida A&M’s scoring chances, allowing only eight points while maintaining their advantage through disciplined defense and rebounding.
Jailah Pelly led all scorers with 23 points and made six three-pointers for UAPB. Jasmine Davis contributed 16 points along with four three-pointers and four steals on defense. Khaniah Gardner recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Briontanay Marshall added nine rebounds and two blocks in support.
UAPB finished the game with ten three-pointers made, won the rebounding battle with 40 total boards (including 16 offensive), collected nine steals, and converted turnovers into 21 points.
